The design for this bowl is taken from antique metal Symphonium musical box disc which plays the tune “Mary Had A Little Lamb”.
It measures 12 x 12cm in diameter and is made from etched, slumped mouth-blown flashed glass.
It is the first in a series of bowls I am making on this theme. I am interested in musical box discs as objects which use a graphic analogue code to generate popular music, and I want to illuminate them by reinterpreting them as objects in glass. Each piece carries the title of the music it represents.
