Linda Norris

Biography

Linda has been a landscape painter for 37 years and began working in glass 12 years ago. She works with various media and is constantly trying to find the best way to express her idea. In 2012 Linda won the international Warm Glass Prize and in 2013 she won the Adrian Henri poetry in Art Prize for her sculpture, ‘Her House is Air’. Linda’s work has been exhibited at the British Glass Biennale in 2015 and 2017.

As half of the creative partnership Studio Melyn, Linda works with Rachel Phillips to undertake architectural glass commissions. Since 2012 they have completed stained glass windows for Conwy and Beaumaris Castles, and for Skokholm Island. They have also made glass panels for Bro Cerwyn sheltered housing development in Pembrokeshire and they bare currently making a window for Caernarfon Castle.

Linda has always maintained a lively community engagement alongside her own studio practice. She recently taught art and craft for 4 years at Coleg Plas Dwbl, a Ruskin Mill Trust specialist college for young adults with autism in Mynachlogddu, Pembrokeshire.

“My inspiration remains firmly rooted in landscape and my work is driven by a desire to move away from pictorial representation to make work fuelled by ideas that underpin and investigate a sense of place.”
